Brian Atkin is a management consultant whose experience and achievements span the disciplines of project management, construction management and facilities management (FM). He is an experienced project management corporate educator, having worked with a global energy company for the past 14 years. Brian's primary interest is in an integrated process for the delivery and operation of constructed facilities/assets. As a member of British Standards Institution's FM Strategy Group and FM Technical Committee, as well as the ISO TC 267 Facility Management, he is well placed to advise on current best practices and emerging trends in the field. Brian is the co-author of Total Facility Management published by Wiley, now entering its fifth edition, and the technical author of British and international standards.
Over the years, he has served on many advisory groups and steering committees covering innovation, competitiveness and information technology (including BIM), and has been actively involved in learning and development for major corporations and institutions. He has been appointed to professorships in the UK (University of Reading), Sweden (Lund University and The Royal Institute of Technology) and Australia (Queensland University of Technology). His publications are extensive and are to be found in both the academic and industry press.
Brian holds a doctorate from the University of Reading and is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and of the Chartered Institute of Building.
