Marcel Ekkel

Marcel Ekkel is a Hong Kong based project management consultant and practitioner with more than 15 years of experience across a wide variety of industries, business sectors, countries and cultures.

He has built experience and a reputation as consultant and trainer in the areas of Portfolio, Programme and Project management. In line with that he has been establishing PMO’s for FTSE 100 companies, facilitating workshops and the development of professional communities as well as centres of excellence in the project and programme management space. Within that context he developed a PMO training programme and performed project and programme health checks in the context of a regional office of a global operating MNC.

Besides the consultancy activities Marcel has been involved in and responsible for a number of significant projects and programmes covering business (process) reengineering, systems implementations, factory closure, post-acquisition merger and integration, business transformation and new product development/introduction in the European, American and Asia- Pacific regions. Recently delivered a programme covering 25+ countries and 11 time zones on time, within the budget and quality constraints. Companies he worked with include Autobar Group, AIA, Bentoel, British American Tobacco, DHL, G4S, Otto Versand, Volkswagen.

Since moving to Hong Kong he has run a boutique consulting and training organisation with a focus on project management, portfolio management and change management.

Marcel is currently secretary of the APM Hong Kong Branch, a former member of PMI Hong Kong Chapter committees and has contributed to PMI’s OPM3 framework. Besides this he has been active in the Hong Kong start-up community. His portfolio of certifications includes PRINCE2, MSP, PMP, APMs MAPM and a Six Sigma Green Belt.
